SIDE CLAMPS for Heavy-Duty Blocks
& Accessories
|
|
|
ECCENTRIC CLAMPS -- HDA 4.
Eccentric Clamps are used to combine two longer Heavy Duty blocks together. These clamps
fit into holes in the sides of blocks 1 inch and larger, and accessory items. (NOTE: Heavy
Duty blocks less than 1 inch thick do not have holes in their sides, and are held in combination
either by wringing alone, or by using a Quick-Acting Clamp.)

1. BEFORE CLAMPING, THE GAGE BLOCKS MUST BE WRUNG TOGETHER .
2. DO NOT RELY ON THE FORCE OF THE CLAMP TO SQUEEZE THE BLOCKS TOGETHER.
THIS IS UNRELIABLE AND MAY RESULT IN INACCURATE MEASUREMENTS.
3. IT IS IMPORTANT NOT TO OVER TIGHTEN THE CLAMP. OVER TIGHTENING CAN ALTER
THE DIMENSIONS OF THE GAGE BLOCKS. NEVER USE MORE PRESSURE THAN IS
COMFORTABLE WITH THE THUMB AND INDEX FINGER.

|
An important advantage of Heavy Duty style blocks over rectangular and square blocks is that
the blocks may be wrung together and then secured as the combination is being built. For
rectangular and square blocks, the entire combination must be built before being inserted into
the clamp or inserting the tie rods. This makes building long combinations with Heavy Duty
blocks far easier.
